The teacher uses effective verbal and nonverbal communication techniques as well as instructional media and technology to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.

Evidence 1:Introduction to Child Care Resources power point

Rationale 1: In the course, Assistant Child Care Teacher, students have the option to earn transcripted credit at Western Technical College in La Crosse. They also may receive a DPI certification that they are able to work in a child care center as an assistant child care teacher. In this power point I demonstrate my effective verbal and nonverbal communication through a power point that also has links into the internet further supporting interaction in the classroom.

Knowledge 6.K.3 The teacher understands the importance of nonverbal as well as verbal communication.


Student gain knowledge a variety of ways, most students hear what I am saying but need the extra visual of seeing the information on the screen. They always have the option of printing out the power points given as I have them linked to my personal Family and Consumer Science website hosted on the school’s website.


Skills 6.S.5 The teacher knows how to use a variety of media communication tools, including audiovisual aids and computers, to enrich learning opportunities.


As a part of this powerpoint, the students are instructed to go to the website on the last power point slide to enrich their learning and take their knowledge to the next level with the aide of the internet site.


Disposition 6.D.2 The teacher values many ways in which people seek to communicate and encourages many modes of communication in the classroom.


Students are hands-on, interacting with the internet and each other. In this lesson, students are given specific locations on the website to find information to share with their peers. This collaborative learning environment encourages students to find their specific answers to communicate to their classmates.
